One of the health topics I am passionate about is women’s health. I recently attended an eye-opening meeting in the state of California about the current programs and resources in place for African American women, children, and fathers and the fire within me for Women’s health was rejuvenated. The programs highlighted their progress and success in efforts to increase health literacy, build community, heal broken homes, fulfill physical needs, and address the staggering, heartbreaking statistics of Black maternal and infant mortality. As I continue to learn more, I will continue to share about this experience, but for now I wanted to highlight this to segue into my main point for this post.
I want to use this platform to express and share my knowledge, experience, and expertise around Women’s health for black women. This includes peripartum care, infant/child care, sexually transmitted infections, preventive care, primary care, addiction medicine, fertility and reproductive health, and so much more as it pertains specifically to black women and children.
It is some important for me to get this information out there because there is a need for it; there is a need for us to heal, grow, and thrive despite all we have faced and endured for generations. I hope you will enjoy this new addition to this site. In the next phase, please feel free to share your feedback and thoughts as well suggestions about topics you would like to hear more about when it comes to women’s health.
I super excited to connect with you all and share a field a medicine that is near and dear to my heart.
Until next time, take care.
