Often times, people see a doctor as someone who fixes things that are broken. While that may a part of the job description, there is a lot more to it than that.
Your PCP (or primary care doctor) is someone who is also invested in helping you prevent to development and progression of many health conditions. We have access to up to date research/data about what works as well as experience about what is and isn’t safe to do when obtaining optimal health- especially when to losing.
While we are not a substitute for other health professionals such as a fitness instructor, nutritionist, physical therapist, or your own research, we are definitely a useful tool to add to your toolbelt in your journey to overall health and well-being.
So the next time you see your favorite PCP, take a moment to ask about ways to maintain your overall health.
