I recently went to an AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians) conference where I listened to a speaker who happened to come from my Alma Mater in region infamously known as a blue zone- a place that has a high percentage of individuals who live to above 100 years of age compared to other places in the world.
Some of the principles this community practices include eating a plant-based diet, regular exercise, making time to nurture relationships, and strong spiritual connection to God. Applying these principles has resulted in people living healthy meaningful lives with few medical conditions/complications.
Interesting, right? One of the best prescriptions for living life isn’t a magic pill; it’s living a whole and balanced life, eating well, moving your body, having a strong faith, and maintaining healthy relationships. While it may not guarantee that you will live life without ever encounter any health challenges, it certainly will have a huge impact in your overall wellbeing- minimizing the potential of having serious, common, and avoidable medical conditions.
